Obasanjo says "my job is done " as he gives up his seat to Obi.

Social media users have been commenting on a trending video in which former President Olusegun Obasanjo was seen giving up his seat to Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi at an event in Abuja this week.

The event held at the Transcorp Hilton in Abuja was organized by the Fidelity Bank to celebrate the national honor recently given to the President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the African Export-Import Bank, (Afreximbank) Professor Benedict Oramah by President Muhammadu Buhari.

In the viral video, former president Obasanjo was seen calling up Obi from where he sat at table nine and leading him to table one - a gesture which was greeted with applause by the audience.

Narrating the story in a Twitter post, the master of ceremonies at the event, @OluwaseunP,  told of how the LP presidential flag bearer came in while Obasanjo was making his speech, refused to take one of the seats reserved for VIPs preferring instead, to sit at the back of the hall.

"OBJ noticed & told them, “leave him alone o”. He then went himself to bring Obi to the front & gave him his seat. Then said, “my job is done”, the tweet added.

Many on Twitter and Facebook, have described Obasanjo’s action as “symbolic” and “an endorsement”.

According to DAILY POST, some former Nigerian leaders are tactically supporting the LP presidential candidate with

Obasanjo, in particular, rallied together other former Heads of State, influential retired Generals, and powerful Northerners, including monarchs for Obi.

Akin Osuntokun, a former political adviser to Obasanjo, had recently revealed that his ex-principal may be supporting Obi to become President in 2023, DAILY POST further said.

Some polls have also shown Obi ahead of other major contenders like Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The Labour Party candidate has held a series of closed-door meetings with the former president in recent times.

Obasanjo also met with Obi, Governor Nyesom Wike, and his group in London recently.
