A court in the Hague has banned a man from donating any more of his sperm after he fathered about 550 children in the Netherlands and other countries.
The presiding judge at the District Court gave the ruling following an injunction filed by the parents of a child conceived with the donor's sperm and a foundation representing other parents.
The donor, identified as Jonathan M. allegedly lied to prospective parents about the number of offspring he helped to conceive and his donation history.
In its written judgment, the Court said that Jonathan provided sperm to several Dutch fertility clinics, a clinic in Denmark, and to many other people he linked up with through advertisements and online forums.
The court also noted that under Dutch guidelines, sperm donors are allowed to produce a maximum of 25 children with 12 mothers and that the donor lied to prospective parents about his donation history, according to a report by CBS News,
