Twitter, the American communications business, has declared its plans to begin charging nearly $20 per month for verification.
This is coming less than 48 hours after Elon Musk acquired control of Twitter.
According to reports, the monthly subscription fee is to enable users to stay verified as part of a premium service to be launched under Elon Musk's leadership.
In a tweet on Sunday, Musk said, “The whole verification process is being revamped right now.”

Twitter also intends to increase Twitter Blue, an optional premium subscription that costs $4.99 per month, to $19.99 per month. That charge, though, is said to be subject to change.
After the rollout of Twitter Blue, verified users will have 90 days to sign up for the service or risk losing their blue checkmarks.
Musk reportedly directed engineers to complete building a paid verification system by the end of next week or risk being fired, according to an American technology news website.
Elon Musk was announced as the new CEO of the social media site on Friday, October 28. He tweeted on Sunday, October 30.
