Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, has announced that Twitter will create a "Content Moderation Council," a group of individuals with "diverse views," to regulate content on the platform.
He said that the council will review banned accounts on the platform, and take decisions about them, and whether to allow them to be reactivated or not.
According to reports, the council will replace Twitter's current content policy, which was implemented under the company's previous leadership and resulted in the suspension of numerous accounts, including that of Donald Trump, the former president of the United States.

Musk had previously hinted that, after purchasing Twitter, he might lift certain accounts ban as part of his commitment to using the social media network to advance free speech.

Musk stated that no significant decisions or reinstatement of accounts will be made until the council meets.
"Twitter will be forming a content moderation council with widely diverse viewpoints.
"No major content decisions or account reinstatements will happen before that council convenes," Musk said while announcing the plan to set up the council on his Twitter handle.
"The Bird Is Freed."
Elon Musk announced the completion of the acquisition agreement on Friday morning, declaring that the "bird is freed", referring to the Twitter logo, following nearly six months of intense negotiations.
Musk immediately fired Parag Agrawal, the CEO of Twitter, and other senior corporate officials.
Earlier, Musk said in a statement to Twitter's advertisers that he did not acquire Twitter for financial gain but rather for the benefit of humanity.
"I acquired Twitter because it is important to the future of civilization to have a common digital town square, where a wide range of beliefs can be debated healthily, without resorting to violence, Musk said.
According to him, "There is currently great danger that social media will splinter into far right-wing and far left-wing echo chambers that generate more hate and divide our society” he noted.
