A forty-seven-year-old woman, Grace Moses on Tuesday, appeared before the Delta State High Court 2 sitting in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of the State, claiming that she bore a son for the sitting Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu and urging him to claim his son.
Speaking to journalists shortly after the matter was adjourned, Grace Moses said her son, Emmanuel Sanwo-Olu is threatening to kill her if she failed to identify his father to him.
“My message to Sanwo-Olu is that he should come and collect his child. The baby is grown up. He is troubling me. If not for God, I would have been dead by now.”
“The baby is now grown and he’s threatening to kill me if I do not show him his father”.
Grace Moses said she told her son, that, “Your papa no be a cripple. Sanwo-Olu nai be him name. He uses his left hand for anything. He no dey carry Afro. He always dey barb low cut. Your papa a Yoruba man. He always dey put hand for pocket,” she said in pidgin English.
Giving details of her affair with Governor Sanwo-Olu, Grace Moses claimed that they met in 1995 when she was 19 years old, while Sanwo-Olu was working with a construction firm at Ubogo Community in Udu Local Government Area.
She said they had a romantic relationship which resulted in a first pregnancy that was terminated at a hospital in Agbarho Community, Ughelli North Local Government Area where Sanwo-Olu took her.
A second pregnancy followed, after another sexual intercourse with Sanwo-Olu.
Grace Moses, however, lamented that in the course of the pregnancy, Sanwo-Olu left Ugheli for Maiduguri, Borno state on transfer and abandoned her since then and up until now, has refused to meet with her and her son.
She expressed regrets that she could not attend school due to the pregnancy and that her mother had to send her away from their home after waiting in vain for Sanwo-Olu to take responsibility for the pregnancy.
Grace Moses further said that she attempted to abort the baby, by taking “lime” but added that, “E no dey commot,”
and to sustain herself and her child, after its delivery, she sold pigs for people and earned one hundred and fifty Naira.
For his part, Emmanuel Sanwo-Olu who was present at the Court on December 6, 2022, also confirmed that Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu had never contacted him and all his attempts to meet with the governor have been unsuccessful.
He stated that his major interest is not the governor's wealth and fame but to identify with his father and his relatives, “I just want to know that this is my father.
“I am not seeing anybody as my father’s relatives. I am bothered about it because my friends are mocking me,” Emmanuel said.
Meanwhile, the Delta State High Court 2 adjourned the matter that came under Number: EHC/148/2022 to February 13,
for hearing of the application before it.
Mr. John Aikpokpo-Martins, Counsel to Emmanuel Sanwo-Olu and his mother, Grace Moses said Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu had filed a preliminary objection that as a governor, he is immune in the matter.
