Prince William and Prince Harry.
Prince Harry says he was born to donate spare body organs and blood to his elder brother, Prince William if he needed them.
In his explosive memoir, Spare, the 38-year-old Duke of Sussex said he grew up knowing that and the activities of his parents and grandparents did not hide the fact.
“I was brought into the world in case something happened to Willy,” he said, and claimed that as a form of "shorthand,"
even his parents and grandparents even called him and his brother, the heir and the spare.
Prince Harry further said his life “mission” was “to offer a source of distraction, entertainment and, in case of need, a spare part”, such as a kidney, blood transfusion, kidney or bone marrow to Prince William, his brother should he need such.
Harry explained that the idea of "heir" and "spare" had been reinforced throughout his entire life, saying that from an early age, it was made "abundantly clear" to him that he was only in the world in case something happened to William, Daily Mail reported.
He narrated how his father, King Charles III allegedly told his wife (William’s mother- Prince Diana): “Wonderful! You have already given me an heir and a spare; I have done my job.”
Prince Harry also broke royal protocol elsewhere in the sensational book where he discussed his father's neck and back pain, detailing King Charles's challenges with "constant neck and back pain," which he said was partly due to his father's old polo injuries.
Harry described the moment he introduced his brother to Meghan as a "classic collision of cultures," and alleged that Prince William "recoiled" from Meghan's hug during their first meeting.
Prince Harry said the meeting took place at the Kensington Palace apartment of the
Prince and Princess of Wales, in late 2016
shortly before he and Prince William went on a shooting trip.
Describing the short walk from their Nottingham Cottage home to Apartment 1A, the duke admitted that he was more nervous for his girlfriend, Meghan, to meet William than anyone else.
Harry says his brother, William was a 'bit dressed up' in smart trousers and a shirt when he answered the door.
He wrote: “I introduced Meg, who leaned in and gave him a hug, which completely freaked him out. He recoiled.”
Prince Harry, however, added that Prince William wouldn't usually hug someone he didn't know but noted that hugging was just Meghan's way of greeting strangers.
