The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Peter Obi on Thursday explained that he had not congratulated Nigeria's President-elect, Bola Tinubu, because he is "challenging the process" that produced Tinubu as the winner of the February, 25 presidential elections.
Obi was speaking at a press conference in Abuja, his first since the end of the presidential election.
According to Obi: “I have not made calls to anybody. The two contenders are my fathers, but on this issue, I’m challenging the process.”
INEC declared APC's Ahmed Tinubu as the winner of the election, followed by the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar.
Obi came a distant third.
According to INEC, Tinubu scored 8,794,726 votes to defeat Atiku who had 6,984,520 votes, while Obi got 6,101,533 votes.

However, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi has maintained that he won the 2023 presidential election.
He said that he was robbed of his mandate but he was determined to reclaim it in a court of law.
Obi said, “We’ll explore all legal options to retrieve our mandate. We won the election. I’m fully committed to a better future for the country and nothing can stop that.
“For the election on Saturday go out there and vote. I’ll be part of it, I assure you."
INEC has issued Tinubu the certificate of return as president-elect.
