Suspected terrorists on Sunday morning
abducted about 5 women heading to Church for Sunday worship service in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State.
A Pastor was also injured during the attack.
Chairman of Community Policing Relation in Kankara LGA, Bello Bello confirmed to Vanguard that those kidnapped were all females.
He refuted an earlier report credited to Rev. Ishaya Jura, the Senior Special Assistant on Christian Affairs to Governor Aminu Bello Masari that the victims were kidnapped inside the New Life Church located at Gidan Haruna.
However, another source from the area who prefers not to be named confirmed the earlier report that the abduction happened inside the Church and that the victims included six married women and two single ladies.
“The bandits came to the church riding on nine motorcycles and surrounded the church. Then they started forcing the members out of the church but the Pastor tried to prevent them. So, they beat him up and broke his leg before disappearing with the six married women and two single ladies from the church premises.
The source further said the bandits harass them daily to the extent that they are fed up and wish they could run away from the community.
Vanguard gathered that the criminals, a few days ago freed two residents whom they kidnapped about seven weeks ago after they were paid an unspecified amount as ransom.
Police have not reacted to the development.
