A Kenyan, James Muriuki has been sentenced to 50 years in prison by a Court in Chuka Town, Meru South,
Tharaka-Nithi County, in Kenya for sealing his wife’s genitalia with super glue.
Muriuki was found guilty of assaulting his wife by sealing her genitalia with super glue, beating and gravely injuring her in May 2020.
In June 2020, he pleaded not guilty to charges of sexual assault, attempted murder, committing an unnatural offense, and acting indecently against his wife brought against him.
However, the Court presided over by Njoki Kahara, a Principal Magistrate on Saturday, December 23 ruled that Muriuki alias Kifo, which means 'death' in the local parlance, sexually assaulted his wife and by his actions caused grievous harm to her.
“The man has been found guilty of committing the offense. He caused grievous harm to the wife,” said the Magistrate.
Police said that Muriuki returned home to Tharaka Nithi after working in Nairobi for some time, and lured his wife to a nearby river where he confronted and accused her of infidelity.
He ordered his wife to strip naked and demanded to know all the men she had slept with while he was away, threatening to kill her if she refused to talk.
According to the Police report, “She hesitated and he started beating her while threatening to kill her with a knife.

He fled his home after committing the offense and was arrested a few days later by operatives of Kenya's Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), from where he was hiding at the house of one James Murogi believed to practice witchcraft and remanded at Embu GK Prison.
