This is coming a few days after gunmen killed some supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra state for defying a 5-day-sit-at-home order given to residents of the Southeast by Finland-based Simon Ekpa, who claims to be a disciple of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.
However, IPOB in addition to dissociating itself from Ekpa and his activities has filed a lawsuit against Simon Ekpa, " which action is founded on a plethora of grave infractions arising from his violent, disturbing, and false declarations," IPOB said.
The apex Igbo socio-cultural group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has also called for the arrest and extradition of Simon Ekpa.
In its recent reaction to the increased wave of violence in the Southeast, the group through its Secretary General, Okechukwu Isiguzoro said, "the immediate arrest of Simon Ekpa will end up insecurity challenges in the east and serve as a deterrent to others, who might want to consider being a menace to the public, particularly to the people of the southeast."
Also, Nigerians from across the globe on Thursday began signing a petition asking the Finnish government, the European Union, and the Nigerian Government to arrest Simon Ekpa saying, "Simon’s action is stirring up a bloodbath – a genocide in the region, and innocent women, children, the aged and youths are the victims dying every day."
Crime.
