China blames the U.S. for prolonging the conflict in Ukraine.

China has blamed the United States for causing and fueling the war in Ukraine.

Beijing also criticized the US for "selling heavy and assault weapons to Ukraine, which has only prolonged and intensified the conflict.”

China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Mao Ning told reporters that Washington created the conditions that led to Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

“The U.S. is the one who triggered the Ukraine crisis and the biggest factor fuelling it and has kept selling heavy and assault weapons to Ukraine, which has only prolonged and intensified the conflict,”

she said.

Mao's comments came in reaction to a question about the U.S. claims that some Chinese companies had been supporting the Russian side.

She condemned the allegations as “unwarranted suspicion and groundless blackmail”, adding that China “would not sit by and watch the U.S. harm the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies.”

Russia began its full-scale military aggression on Ukraine in February 2022.

China, an ally of Russia, has not condemned Russia’s actions.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson also warned the U.S. over its support for Taiwan.

The United States has long supplied Taiwan with weapons and extensive military support.
