*Kanu's health, is not a matter of politics, IPOB to DSS.

Ifeanyi Ejiofor, the lawyer to the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has again raised concerns about the worsening conditions of Kanu’s health under the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS).
Giving an update after his routine visit to the IPOB leader in Abuja, on Thursday, Ejiofor said that Kanu’s state of health is fast deteriorating due to very poor medical care being offered to him by the DSS, which does not possess the advanced medical equipment required to treat him adequately, a report by SaharaReporters says.
The lawyer said that despite this lack, the secret police has refused to allow Kanu access to medical services outside the detention facility.
He said, “Onyendu is not showing any improvement in his worsening health condition. He is still medically uncared for, and the reason is simple - the DSS lacks the advanced medical equipment to treat Onyendu’s deteriorating health condition.”
Ejiofor had raised a similar concern in January, when he had alerted that Kanu needed urgent advanced medical treatment and surgical operation in his ear, having complained seriously about severe pains, especially in his left ear.
He stated that the IPOB leader bitterly lamented that despite the life-threatening illnesses he is experiencing, the DSS has failed to provide him with proper medical care.
Ejiofor also said that Kanu narrated that a previous scan done at the instance of the DSS showed that undergoing an advanced surgical procedure is critical to repair his left ear drum which is greatly impaired following the severe torture and beating he was subjected to by agents of the Nigerian Government “when he was forcibly kidnapped in Kenya and savagely renditioned back to Nigeria in June 2021.”
Our fears are real- IPOB.
The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB recently disclosed that Kanu's health is deteriorating and warned the Federal Government not to play politics with the life of its leader.
In response to DSS's statement dismissing as "political statements", I POB's alarm over its leader's worsening health conditions, the pro-self-determination group cautioned the Nigerian government not to allow Kanu to die in its custody if it still wants the country to exist.
A statement by IPOB’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, entitled, “The worsening health of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu”, is real and not politics” challenged the DSS to explain why they have denied Mazi Nnamdi Kanu access to a doctor since the second week of December 2022.
“And why he has not been allowed to take his drugs according to prescription.
“We want to remind DSS and the public that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s deteriorating health is true and can’t be termed a political statement.
“The government and her secret Police and DSS are very much aware that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s health is failing him from their poisoning, denial of adequate medication for his known ailment, and torture using starvation as he continues to be held illegally in the DSS solitary confinement.
"The reason for this is to distract people from the alarm that has been raised on their intention to systematically and covertly eliminate our leader.
“The Nigerian government should know by now that IPoB has zero interest in Nigeria politics.
IPOB leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
“The government can play politics with anything, but not with the life of our leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
“The DSS should explain why they have refused Mazi Nnamdi Kanu access to a doctor since the second week of December 2022, and why he has not been allowed to take his drugs according to prescription.
“It is on record that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is very sick, and he is dying slowly in the DSS solitary confinement.
Continuing, it said, "IPOB members worldwide and Ndigbo will not accept any explanation from anyone if anything happens to him.
“A word is enough for the wise, Nigeria will cease to exist if anything untoward happens to him. Let nobody say we did not warn the Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government,” IPOB declared.
IPOB also challenged the DSS to prove its innocence of the group's allegations by allowing an independent and comprehensive medical examination of Kanu by medical specialists to be brought by the IPOB leadership and lawyers.
"Alternatively, the DSS Director should take Mazi Nnamdi Kanu to a hospital for a comprehensive medical test, and the test result should be made public," IPOB demanded.
