The Poultry Association of Nigeria (PAN) has warned farmers against using antibiotics to rear chickens and other birds.
The Chairman, of PAN Lagos State, Mojeed Iyiola in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) said the use of antibiotics makes local egg powder unacceptable outside the country.
He said that productivity and profitability would be boosted if the right things were done.
“We warn farmers to desist from the use of antibiotics in grooming their birds to enable our egg powder to gain entrance into the international markets”, he told NAN.
Iyiola said poultry farmers should use probiotics, instead of antibiotics.
The PAN leader, however, praised the Lagos state government for setting up an egg powder production factory in the state.
Agriculture. Business. Career and Productivity.
