An unknown number of passengers aboard an 18-seater bus has reportedly been kidnapped at Ochadamu along the Anyigba-Itobe road in Ofu Local Government Area (LGA)of Kogi state.
Governor Yahaya Bello's state security advisor, Navy Commander Jerry Omodara (rtd), confirmed the attack on Thursday and claimed that the state government was in full control of the situation.
"We have fought them; we will fight them, and we will continue to fight them until they are neutralized in that axis of the state.
“Security agents have been alerted and they will do the needful,” Omodara said.
The incident is believed to have occurred on Monday at about 4 pm near a kidnapping hotspot on the Anyigba-Itobe highway.
According to Politics Nigeria, it is still unknown whether the Abuja-bound bus was completely occupied when it was flagged down by about 12 gunmen who forced the passengers to get off, taking them into the forest.
Residents claim that abduction activity around the Ochadamu flash point had significantly decreased, but recently increased after the Nigerian Army roadblock in the region was removed following a fatal accident.
