India, on Wednesday, Feb 8, 2023, recorded what is considered to be its first case of a transgender being delivered a baby.
The baby was born at a state-run hospital in Kozhikode, according to sojworldnews.
Ziya Paval, one of the trans-partners, told reporters, "The baby was born around 9.30 am through a Caesarean Section at the Government Medical College Hospital.”
Paval said both the baby and Zahhad, her partner, who delivered the child, were doing well.
In a congratulatory message, Veena George, Kerala Health Minister directed the Medical College Superintendent to provide all necessary treatment for both the baby and Zahhad free of cost.
The transgender couple has refused to disclose the gender of their newborn baby.
