Tinubu neither understands verifiable facts nor figures says Obi-Datti Media office

*There was no assassination attempt on Peter Obi- Police

The Head, Obi-Datti Media Office, Diran Onifade has explained that Peter Obi's use of statistics in campaigns is to simplify facts and figures and make campaign rhetorics easier for the people to understand.

Onifade said that however the APC and its presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu are jittery as Tinubu neither understands arithmetic nor statistics.

He was responding to Tinubu's recent remarks in Gbaramatu, Delta stating that one of the presidential candidates lies with statistics and arithmetic that no Indian can solve. APC campaign also made some snide comments on Obi's use of statistics in Abuja on Sunday.

According to the Labor Party media aide, “Tinubu had said at a rally of rented crowds in Gbaramatu, Delta State that Peter Obi of the Labour Party lied with figures.

"A contestant who cannot pronounce or spell ‘m.u.l.t.i.p.l.i.c.a.t.i.o.n’ and wants to argue about numbers, arithmetic, and statistics say a lot about how low we have climbed in this country.”

The head, of the LP media office, further noted that Obi is well prepared for the high office of the President and has a deep understanding of the issues at stake, unlike some other candidates, Vanguard reports.

"Providing the numbers shows Peter Obi’s preparedness for the high office of the President if and when hired by Nigerian voters come 2023,” Onifade said.

He further stated that some presidential candidates who are unable to cope with Peter Obi’s speed are working to distract his issue-based campaign which many Nigerians have bought into, saying, “This has resulted in a grand design to distract his focus from the issue-driven campaigns, which are resonating very well with Nigerians who are ready and committed to taking back their country from forces that have held it down over the years.”

Onifade said, “Our candidate has said repeatedly that his assertions were verifiable and dared anybody with contrary facts and figures to come up.

“Analysts, media houses, and opponents have formed fact-checking units in their organizations ostensibly to contradict Peter Obi’s facts and figures, but they are yet to succeed.”

To support this point, the LP campaign media head cited a recent Arise TV town hall meeting in Abuja where a team of fact-checkers set up to pin down Obi ended up apologizing to him.

He said, “The acceptable mantra is always if you can’t beat them, join them, but in Nigerian politics, the reverse is the case: if you can’t beat them pull them down.

“That is what Obi’s opponents who cannot cope with his deep know-how about the economy are doing,” Onifade concluded.

The PPRO said charges have been filed in Court against the suspect.

Osifeso said, “Preliminary investigations revealed that the event was characterized by effective deployment of operational, tactical, and intelligence assets, which was monitored under the highest levels of professionalism.

“He was arrested by police operatives stationed at the venue for having a concealed weapon, a double-faced jackknife on the inside of his suit in violation of the 2022 Electoral Act and other guiding regulations.
