Four members of an armed gang that attacked a military checkpoint at Afor-uzo junction in Isuofia community on Saturday morning were killed on the spot in crossfire with security agents.
Anambra state governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo hails from the Isuofia community in the Aguata local government area of the state.

According to a report by the Daily Post, the incident has been confirmed by both the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, for Anambra state Police command, Tochukwu Ikenga, and the state commissioner for information, Paul Nwosu.
In a statement, the information commissioner said: “A gang of gunmen struck the Nigerian Army checkpoint at Afor-Uzo Junction, Isuofia, this morning ( Saturday). Unfortunately for the hoodlums, they met their Waterloo.
“Our gallant and alert security agents who gave them a hot chase immediately returned fire and neutralized four of the gang members in a fierce exchange of shootings. Their Toyota Avanza with which
they launched the deadly operation was recovered.”
He added: “The government of Anambra State wishes to reassure the people of their safety, especially during this yuletide season. If you see something; please say something to help our vigilant security agents protect you better. “
Also reacting to the incident, PPRO Ikenga stated that Police officers were deployed to the scene, and they have restored calm and normalcy in the area.
Sources said not less than two soldiers were killed in the fierce gun battle between the gunmen and the soldiers stationed in the community, Daily Post reports.
A source disclosed that the hoodlums first attacked and killed the soldiers at the army checkpoint before the soldiers gave them a hot chase and neutralized four of the attackers.
