Police in Rivers state has arrested a 17-year-old boy, Noble Uzuchi for impregnating 10 ladies.
The teenager was arrested together with his accomplice, Chigozie Ogbonna, 29 on Saturday, during Police raids on two houses located in the Omagwa and Iguruta areas of the state.
Also arrested were two other ladies, Favour Bright, 30; and Peace Alikoi, 40,
alleged to be the leader of the syndicate.
The four are being accused of running a baby factory in the Obio/Akpor and Ikwerre local government areas of the state before their arrest.
Noble Uzuchi allegedly worked for the baby factory as a stud and got paid for getting women pregnant, Legitng reports.
Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO for Rivers state Command, Grace Iringe-Koko has confirmed the development.
The PPRO said, “On Saturday, January 7, 2023, around 4.45 pm, while acting on credible intelligence available to the Rivers State Police Command, C4I Intelligence Unit operatives raided two houses at Igwuruta and Omagwa communities respectively, where victims of child trafficking were being kept.”

She said that Police rescued the 10 pregnant women during the raids and recovered a white Honda Pilot SUV from the leader of the syndicate.
The PPRO further said that preliminary investigations showed that the syndicate leader usually paid N500,000 for each child delivered, and then kept the baby.
Also, some babies previously delivered there were sold.
According to the PPRO, the rescued ladies admitted that they got into the deal due to financial constraints.
“All the victims confessed that they were lured to the illicit sales of children because of the need to meet some financial challenges.
"The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department and efforts are being intensified to track and arrest the buyers of the children already sold out,” said PPRO, Iringe-Koko.
