Popular Islamic scholar, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has urged the Courts in Nigeria to uphold the truth in deciding matters relating to the February, 25,2023 presidential elections to avert chaos in the country.
Reacting to the outcome of the election on social media, Sheikh Gumi also appealed to opposition parties to seize this opportunity to teach the younger generation the value of resolving disputes through legal means rather than violence by going to the Supreme Court to re-establish the supremacy of the law.
He further criticized the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for failing to follow its guidelines in conducting the election, according to a report by Opera News.
The prominent Islamic scholar maintained that the only way for a government to get legitimacy is through a credible and transparent electoral process,
otherwise, the government would be a political imposition by a few privileged cabals.

Similarly, former minister of Education, Dr. Mrs. Oby Ezekwesili, said that it is the citizens of Nigeria who can give legitimacy to any government in the country.
Reacting to INEC's declaration of Bola Tinubu as the winner of the February 25, 2023, presidential election, Dr. Ezekwesili noted on her Twitter page, that legitimacy can neither be bought nor forced on a people, Opera News reported.

Recently, also the human rights activist lamented on Twitter, the coverage of Nigeria's presidential election outcome in some foreign media outlets, stating that, underscores the importance of setting a standard for individuals running for elective positions in Nigeria.
Ezekwesili wrote: “Just read all those collateral insults from global media for our country and people, just because of one individual; and you’ll fully understand why we should set a mandatory standard of Character, Competence, and Capacity for anyone parties present for elective office."
