How A Stowaway Aboard KLM Boeing 777 from Lagos Was Found Dead.

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, and KLM airlines have begun separate investigations into the death of a stowaway whose body was found in the wheel well of KLM Royal Dutch Airlines Boeing 777 with registration number: PH-BQM on Monday, April 17th, 2023.

A spokesperson for the Royal Dutch Marechaussee told reporters that the passenger's death may have resulted from temperature changes.

“Sometimes they survive, but most of the time it goes wrong given the sharp drop in temperature. On longer flights, temperatures can go down to minus fifty degrees, impossible to survive.”

A statement issued by the KLM said the flight originated from Lagos and it was still unclear how and when the dead passenger got into the aircraft.

“This morning, a deceased stowaway was discovered in the wheel well of a KLM Royal Dutch Airlines Boeing 777 (registered PH-BQM).

“The aircraft originated from Lagos, Nigeria. It’s currently unknown how and when the man was able to climb into the aircraft; an investigation has been launched," KLM said.

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, has also launched a probe into the incident.
