Nigerian veteran singer, Charly Boy has alleged that former President Olusegun Obasanjo recently stopped trucks bringing illegal immigrants from Chad to vote in Nigeria's 2023 general elections.
Charly Boy, popularly called 'Area Fada' disclosed on Twitter that the Chad nationals numbering about 1.5 million held Nigerian PVCs and were being conveyed in 100 trucks with no plate numbers, headed for Kaduna state, reports Opera News.
Writing on his official Twitter page, Charly Boy said, "Obasanjo blocked 100 trucks containers carrying nearly 1.5 million Chadians from entering Nigeria to Kaduna to vote APC".
Narrating further Charly Boy said Obasanjo got a phone call from a junior immigration officer that some suspicious 100 trucks with around 1.5 million Chadians crossed the Nigerian border and were en route to Kaduna State.
He said that Obasanjo rapidly responded by directing his security officers to block all roads leading into Kaduna state, which enabled them to stop the trucks.
Charly Boy also revealed that the said Chadians pretended not to understand the English Language during interrogation.
However, former president Obasanjo ordered that the PVCs found on them be seized and destroyed immediately.
He said that Obasanjo immediately contacted the President of Chad on the development but he denied knowledge of the incident.
Thereafter, the trucks and their occupants were asked to return to their country, Charly Boy said.
