Authorities in Dubai have been allegedly arresting a significant number of Nigerians living in the country for their onward deportation.
A video that surfaced online showed many Nigerians chained together and loaded in a bus heading to the airport, The streetjournal, reported.
One of the male passengers in the video was heard saying that fifteen additional buses besides theirs were already filled up with Nigerians awaiting deportation from Dubai.
He warned Nigerians planning to visit the oil-rich United Arab Emirates (Dubai), to first make adequate inquiries and get the necessary information to enable them to make informed decisions and avoid experiences similar to theirs.

According to the report, this is not the first time Nigerians have been deported from Dubai. However, it is the first time they were put in chains, possibly to prevent escape.
In August 2022, Nigerians who faced expulsion from Dubai appealed to the federal government for assistance.
Thousands of Nigerians in the UAE have lost their jobs since July 2021, following a new labor policy that bars them from getting work permits from the country’s Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MORHE) in charge of regulating labor affairs, the report noted.
Towards the end of last year, the government of the United Arab Emirates, UAE imposed a visa ban on Nigerians in a notice which was sent to the UAE trade partners in Nigeria, including travel agencies.
The ban which was not explained, applied to all Nigerians.
The notice sighted by The Vanguard read: “All Dubai applications submitted are now rejected. The rejections will be sent in batches."
